BMW's European delivery program has been such a hit with customers that the company is upgrading its factory delivery facilities. All U.S.-market models other than the Z4 and X5, which are manufactured in Spartanburg, S.C., are available for purchase through BMW's European delivery program.

Customers are eligible for a free companion ticket when they book an economy class, Q fare ticket to Germany on Lufthansa. (Restrictions apply; click here to read more).

Owners pick up their vehicles in Munich, at the delivery center located just off the A9 autobahn. Navigation system DVDs for Europe must be purchased before leaving the United States and cost $165 each.

BMW offers optional five-day driving packages that include nights at hotels from the Condé Nast Traveler Gold list. One itinerary focuses on lakes Lucerne and Como before ending in Milan. The price starts at $2,950 per person based on double occupancy. An Alpine tour meanders through Switzerland and starts at $2,600. A route with the theme of castles and Mozart takes in Salzburg, Prague and Vienna and starts at $2,600.

Cars financed or leased through BMW Financial Services must be exported within 90 days; others can remain in Europe up to six months before facing a 16 percent penalty tax for non-export.

Savings range from $2,270 on a $32,400 328i Sedan, to $8,580 off a $122,600 760Li. Cars can be dropped off throughout Europe for shipment overseas.
