While the Hummer H1 was built for specialized duty with the armed services, the H2 was built on the reputation of the H1. Finesse isn’t the keyword when describing the heavy H2, but it certainly is capable of maneuvering through some tough situations that would block out other SUVs completely. With massive tires and very little in the way of overhangs, the H2 can climb or descend from a 40-degree angle and ford through water up to 20 inches deep. But if you do plan to take the H2 off-road, you should be aware that its sheer size makes the going tough, as does its huge turning radius.

That translates to the streets, as well, where the H2 is one of the most cumbersome vehicles to maneuver and park. The H2 isn’t as roomy as the outward dimensions might indicate, either, but it’s quite comfortable inside and as refined as other big SUVs. If you’re willing to live with the compromises, along with its image as a poster child for needless consumerism, the H2 is one of the best off-road devices available.
