The first luxury SUV to be sold in the U.S. and, to some, the king of luxury off-roaders, the Range Rover has kept up with the times with sophisticated technology and hardware that provides cushy, luxury-car comfort combined with impressive clambering ability. The height-adjustable air suspension is similar to that in the LR3, with a multimode Terrain Response system that allows extreme angles between wheels while helping to keep the cabin ride as level and smooth as possible as the tires are scrambling over rocks or ruts.

If the base model’s 305-hp engine isn’t enough, there’s also a supercharged version that boosts power to 400 hp, with stronger Brembo brakes to match. The wood-finished interior feels like a finely appointed private club; options include a heated steering wheel and a DVD entertainment system.
