The big, heavy, well-built LX 470 isn’t the type of vehicle you’d want to take for an afternoon of boulder-hopping, but it’s the ideal choice for a long trip where the pavement doesn’t go. A more luxurious version of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser, the LX 470 doesn’t offer the on-road performance of many newer luxury SUVs of its size and price, but it’s very smooth, refined and comfortable. It also offers top tech features, like an infrared-based Night View system and Bluetooth compatibility.

On the downside, the conservative design is looking rather dated. But judging by how highly old Land Cruisers are regarded today, it should stand the test of time.
