New for 2006, the full-size Lucerne has the soft ride that’s the mark of a Buick along with the rather powerful Northstar V8, formerly the exclusive domain of Cadillac. Seating for six is available. Magnetic Ride Control — which allows quick handling responses without sacrificing the pillowy ride — is offered on the Lucerne, as is the StabiliTrak stability control system. There’s a total of six airbags onboard, including side and side-curtain air bags as well as a new dual-depth passenger airbag that can deploy to two different sizes, depending on the seat position and occupant size. A heated windshield-washer system and rain-sensing wipers are available, too.
