Part of the fun of owning a sexy car is seeing what's under the hood every once in a while. You can't do that with a Boxster.
The sweet six-cylinder engine is mounted behind the seats, just fore of the rear axle -- that's why the Boxster is called a mid-engine car, in case you're wondering. That’s also why the car handles so well: having the engine mounted closer to the center of the car makes for better weight distribution.
But the only way to see the engine is from underneath or by meticulously removing body panels, which mechanics must do to service the engine. Luckily for frustrated Porschophiles who want to see their Boxster’s motor,
Adrenaline Automotive has created a transparent panel to replace a stock one behind the seats. It’s called the Adrenalizer.
This $700 accessory lets the obsessed Boxster owner trick out their engine with shiny bits -- like chromed valve covers -- and marvel at their handiwork. There's even a sliding door, so you can reach back, open it and hear as much engine "music" as your ears can take.
Lest you doubt the market for such a product, just Google “Porsche Boxster Club” and check out the 307,000 results generated. But first check out our slide show of the Adrenalizer.
