Ultra-luxury car brand Maybach, owned and run by DaimlerChrysler and closely aligned with Mercedes-Benz, has introduced a third model for 2006, the 57 S, intended for rich enthusiasts who'd rather drive themselves than rely on chauffeurs.
While the Maybach 62 is a limousine-type car intended to be driven by chauffeurs, the shorter 57 has more conventional sedan proportions. The numeric model names refer to their length in meters; the 62 is 242.5 inches long, making it the longest production car in the world, while the 57 measures 225.3 inches.

The new 57 S adds a higher degree of performance and handling compared to the conventional Maybach 57. It’s motivated by a larger Mercedes-Benz/AMG-built 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, good for a staggering 604 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque.
The car rides about half an inch lower than the standard Maybach 57, has a firmer air suspension and shock absorbers and thicker anti-roll bars. These and a host of other performance and appearance enhancements distinguish the S model and make for an uncanny high-speed driving experience.
