The Acura TSX demonstrates that rewarding yourself doesn’t necessarily have to divert you from the mission at hand — in this case, driving from point A to point B. The TSX is a more upscale rendition of the Honda Accord sold in Europe. Slightly smaller than the U.S. Accord, the four-door TSX delivers a decidedly sporty feel, but it can feel a bit underpowered compared to other compact premium sedans. The current TSX debuted in 2004 and will likely see a major overhaul for 2008 and be relaunched as a 2009 model.
Unlike most entry-level luxury sedans, which offer V6 engines, the TSX is propelled by a very willing 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that drives the front wheels. This high-revving four-cylinder imparts a sporty demeanor, especially when coupled with the standard six-speed manual transmission, a combination that lends a lively character to the driving experience.
The TSX is only available in one trim level. Buyers have a choice of a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, and they can opt for the Acura Navigation System with voice-recognition capabilities.
