Ford is giving drivers the chance to be like Steve McQueen with an updated version of the Mustang from the film 'Bullitt.'

Now you can own an updated version of the car that Steve McQueen drove into cinematic history 40 years ago in the movie "Bullitt."

The 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt gets a massaged version of the 4.6-liter V8 found in the standard Mustang GT that pumps out 320 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. A sport-tuned chassis and suspension will improve the Mustang Bullitt's handling and create what Ford calls "the most balanced Mustang ever." A revised rear-axle ratio provides better off-the-line acceleration.

The vehicle will be available with the same Dark Highland Green paintjob as the classic Mustang from the movie, as well as a complete lack of exterior logos, a modification the film production crew performed so that the original Mustang could be used in the movie without having to pay Ford for the use of its name and logo. The designers even went so far as to listen to a digitally remastered DVD of "Bullitt" to recreate the original car's exhaust sound in the new version.

Only 7,700 Ford Mustang Bullitt coupes will be produced, each with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $31,075.
