The Lincoln MKZ is a plusher and more luxurious version of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. All three are based on the Mazda6 (Ford owns a controlling stake in Mazda), though they all come with unique styling and different equipment.

The MKZ rides on a four-wheel independent suspension that provides a comfortable ride and decent handling, though it’s no sport sedan. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes feature electronic brake-force distribution for added stopping abilities. Traction control is standard.
The MKZ has a strong 263-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine. It’s paired with a sophisticated six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available and is designed to anticipate wheel slippage by sending power to the wheels with the most grip.
Wood, optional aluminum accents, and premium materials throughout make for a dressier interior than that of the Fusion and Milan. Seating is comfortable for five passengers, and all but the tallest riders will find sufficient legroom in the rear. The front occupants benefit from a high and upright seating position. The rear seat backs are split 60/40 and augment the MKZ’s spacious trunk by folding forward.Front, front side, and side-curtain airbags are standard, as are many convenience features. A short list of options includes a navigation system, power moonroof, auxiliary audio input jack, Sirius satellite radio compatibility, and a 14-speaker, 600-watt THX II-certified surround-sound audio array that boasts two separate subwoofers (THX is a set of performance standards for high-end audio gear that was originally developed for cinematic applications by filmmaker George Lucas). We found that the sound quality of this stereo does not warrant its price premium.
