Subaru rolled out face-lifted versions of its Legacy and
Outback model lines at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The changes aren’t dramatic, but both models get new front and rear styling, including new bumpers and grilles. Overhangs have been reduced slightly for a more upright appearance, especially on the Outback. The 245-hp 3.0-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine is now available in the Legacy — in the form of a 3.0 R model, or a 3.0 R Limited — which adds the automaker’s SI-Drive system, allowing three distinct throttle attitudes, ranging from the fuel-saving Intelligent to performance-minded Sport Sharp. The Limited also adds paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for the five-speed automatic transmission.
