Saab's compact 9-2X station wagon, which is based upon the Subaru Impreza, adds engine power for 2006, its second year on the market. It also continues to offer a road-holding, AWD system and traditional Saab touches like a floor-mounted ignition. However, it sells at a premium price and its future has grown uncertain since parent company General Motors divested its equity stake in Subaru.
Japanese engineering, Swedish packaging and American oversight make the Saab 9-2X a 'worldly' car, albeit one with only niche appeal.
