The Chevrolet Avalanche adds a short yet functional pickup bed to what is otherwise a roomy, five-passenger, full-size SUV. It also has a unique "midgate" at the front of the pickup bed and the rear of the passenger compartment that can be opened to carry items as long as eight feet, when the need arises. The most recent redesign gives the Avalanche added power and more standard features, though its exterior styling is only a slight evolution from the previous generation.
