The Lexus IS 250 is the brand's entry-level model in the hotly contested market for compact luxury sport sedans. Updates include a new X Package of trim and equipment for a more-aggressive look and added cornering abilities. The IS 250 and its more-powerful sibling, the IS 350, were redesigned for the 2006 model year. The IS 250 has a 2.5-liter V6 engine that barely tops 200 hp, which is just adequate. The engine can be mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, or an optional sequential-shift six-speed automatic gearbox that can be shifted manually, using steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. All-wheel drive is optional. The car comes with a high level of standard equipment, and myriad high-tech options are offered.
