Designed for those who feel even a top BMW or Mercedes to be too plebian, the ultra-costly Maybach 57 is lavishly opulent and affords added exclusivity. Last year the line added a top S trim and equipment package that offers additional power, improved cornering abilities and styling tweaks to this otherwise opulent and stately ride. Its twin-turbo V12 engine generates more than 500 hp in its standard Maybach 57 version and just over 600 hp in the Maybach 57S. Both versions coddle the driver and passengers with an uncannily comfortable interior and every possible amenity. Like a 12-meter yacht, the Maybach 57 gets its name from the fact that it's 5.7 meters long. Its long-wheelbase sibling, the Maybach 62, is 6.2 meters long.
Available in quick and quicker twin-turbo, V12 versions, Maybach's entry level sedan is priced beyond reason, yet it serves up ample poshness and automotive exclusivity for those who can afford it.
