The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is the company's smaller, less-expensive roadster (compared with the SL-Class). Unlike the letters that make up the other Mercedes-Benz model names, "SLK" does stand for something: "sportier, lighter, shorter," in German. That is a pretty apt description of the SLK-Class. The base SLK280 has a 3.0-liter V6 engine; the SLK350, a 3.5-liter V6; the SLK55 AMG, a supercharged, 5.5-liter V8. A six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels in V6 versions. The SLK55 AMG has a seven-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shift capability. The seven-speed is optional on the other models. The car's seats can incorporate an optional "Airscarf" feature that blows warm air to help driver and passenger keep warm on chillier days.
The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class goes from a small and sleek closed coupe to an open roadster in seconds.
