Toyota?s first hybrid-powered vehicle takes a turn toward the sporty side with a new Touring Edition for 2007 that adds a European-tuned suspension and 16-inch alloy wheels for the sake of crisper handling. The Prius continues to remain a popular choice among those who are looking to conserve fuel and drive a ?greener? vehicle. It combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor/generator and a rechargeable battery pack to attain an estimated 60 mpg city/51 mpg highway. As with all fuel-economy estimates, the Toyota Prius? real-world mileage can be lower, depending on how and where you drive. The Prius can run solely on electric power until around 20 mph, and the gasoline engine shuts down when the car is temporarily stopped.
