The Volvo XC90, an SUV based on the S80 sedan, has been updated inside and out. Roughly four years after it was launched, the XC90 has a more-powerful base engine and a new transmission, and it is now offered with a Sport trim and equipment package with improved handling. The base powerplant is a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine. The top version has a V8 engine. A six-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually is standard across the line. New options include adaptive headlamps and a Blind Spot Information System. The XC90 can seat up to seven passengers via an optional third-row seat. What's more, the second-row seat can be adjusted fore and aft to maximize either cargo space or passenger room. The usual Volvo array of safety features is included.
