The mid-size, rear-drive Cadillac CTS competes with top contenders from Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. The latest generation is a marked improvement over the previous, with better looks, performance and comfort. As such, it should better hold its own against Asian and European high-end sport sedans. Two V6 engines are available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. A choice of three suspension systems will satisfy a range of drivers. All-wheel drive is now optional while stability control remains standard. A posh interior includes hand-sewn materials and a full range of amenities. High-tech options are plentiful and include a hard drive-based entertainment system with an innovative interface with menu systems patterned after Apple's iPod.
