Available in rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, Cadillac's luxurious full-size Escalade SUV is one of the biggest and boldest SUVs on the market. Despite being built on a truck platform, it is a sophisticated and comfortable ride, with ample performance, especially when it comes to towing and hauling. A V8 engine delivers 403 horsepower and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that allows manual gear selection. Handling is decent for a vehicle of such size and weight, but the Escalade is not designed for spirited driving. In general, its styling is over the top, but the interior, recently improved, feels classy compared to the exterior?s crassness.
