The "two-mode" hybrid version of the large Chevrolet Tahoe SUV brings a significant increase in fuel economy over the gasoline-powered model, with 25 percent better combined city/highway fuel efficiency. It teams a 6.0-liter V8 gasoline engine that can shut down half its cylinders when necessary with an electric motor/generator and a self-charging battery pack. For less wind resistance, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid rides slightly lower than a standard model, and includes a lightweight aluminum hood and tailgate, along with a few other aerodynamic tweaks that set it apart cosmetically from the rest of the line. Offered with either rear- or four-wheel drive, it remains roomy, comfortable, and powerful for those who require such a large vehicle. The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is mechanically equivalent to the GMC Yukon Hybrid.
