Ford's mammoth full-size SUV now comes in an even larger model, the extended-length Expedition EL. While it rides on a chassis with revised suspension, steering, and braking systems, but uses the prior model's 300-hp V8 engine. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission available. With a tow rating of up to 9,100 pounds, it's a good choice for heavy-duty applications. Stability control with rollover mitigation is among its many safety features, which is important in such a large and potentially unwieldy SUV.
