Porsche's sporty SUV shares its chassis and certain systems with the Volkswagen Touareg, but is set apart with Porsche styling cues. It comes in base, S, GTS and Turbo versions: the standard engine is a just-adequate V6, while the S and GTS come with livelier V8s; a twin-turbocharged V8 makes the top Turbo model truly fast, but that version is priced beyond reason. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on the base Cayenne and the GTS, while the S and Turbo pack six-speed automatics with manual-shift capabilities. The Cayenne offers one of the most capable four-wheel-drive systems available for the few owners who would actually traverse the roughest terrain in a Porsche.
