Imbued with handsome looks and European-style agility, the midsize Saturn Aura sedan is a solid choice for enthusiastic drivers, and the ?mild hybrid? version sweetens the deal with slightly better fuel economy. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is nominally assisted by an electric motor/generator; most of the car?s modest fuel savings are a result of it recovering energy during braking and coasting, and from the engine shutting off while idling. Although it won?t save as much fuel as a ?full hybrid? ? in which the electric motor actually powers the car some of the time ? the system is less complex and, in turn, adds less to the Aura Hybrid?s MSRP. Unfortunately, while all other models in the Aura line come with a modern six-speed automatic transmission, the Hybrid only offers a four-speed automatic.
