Vehicle Summary: 2008 Cadillac STS

The Cadillac STS is the automaker's alternative to European-brand, rear-drive luxury sport sedans. Though it hasn't enjoyed huge sucess, we think it's handsome and has an air of quality. Like many of its competitors, the STS offers a choice of a V6 engine or more-powerful Northstar V8. The V6 engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 comes with a six-speed version. The top-of-the-line STS-V variant tears up the pavement with a hand-assembled, supercharged version of the V8. All versions deliver a fairly smooth ride with reasonably sporty handling. The STS-V is especially capable in that last regard. The interior is nicely designed and delivers adequate comfort, with a bevy of standard features.
