The Jeep Commander, based on the Grand Cherokee, is the company's first seven-passenger SUV. It has sharp-edged lines, an upright windshield and a bold front grille, paying homage to the styling of classic Jeeps. Like the Grand Cherokee, there are three available engines: An underpowered V6 is standard on the base model, while upgraded Commanders receive either a 4.7-liter V8 engine or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that boasts well over 300 horsepower and cylinder deactivation to help boost fuel economy. A five-speed automatic transmission is included across the line. Three full-time four-wheel-drive systems are offered in addition to standard-issue rear-wheel drive. Recent updates include a luxury-oriented Overland trim and equipment package.
The Jeep Commander is a seven-passenger SUV with retro styling and truck-like underpinnings.
