The full-size Nissan Armada SUV shares platforms and powertrains with the Infiniti QX56. Both SUVs are based on the Nissan Titan pickup truck, which means that they're built on a rugged truck frame, which is engineered for tough tasks like hauling and towing. A powerful 5.6-liter V8 engine can run on either gasoline or E85 ethanol. It's mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Both rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are offered. Maximum towing capacity is a hefty 9,100 pounds. The Armada is roomy and comfortable, but its size is a drawback when you're trying to parallel park it. A fair number of high-tech features are optional. Reliability has been spotty on past models.
