Other vehicles show rising beltlines, too, such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. The CLS makes more of a style statement than anything, but rising beltines serve other purposes: They create a sense of safety, both visually and by accommodating new side-impact equipment. They also allow designers to expand interior space for a population steadily growing in size.
